Lower Dauphin Middle School's spring musical, "Mulan Jr." was performed to packed houses in late February, wrapping up on Feb. 29. The cast members also held two open dress rehearsals so all of their classmates could see the performance.
The show, which parallels the iconic Disney animated feature, had a cast of 57 performers and four members of the technical crew. The cast consisted of students across grades six through nine with several performing on stage for the first time.
Amber Abela and Marina Weidman each got the opportunity to play the title role of Mulan in two shows. Other cast members included Abigail Foran as Mushu; Hunter Meyers, Captain Shang; Dylan Kreiss, Yao, a soldier; Nathaniel Wolfe, Qian-Po, a soldier; Brenna Tressler, Ling, a soldier; Nikolai Wagner, Emperor; Sage McKeever, Chi Fu, emperor's council; Mason Barrick, Shan-Yu, Hun leader; Kaitlyn Hoffman, Anne Nelson, Camryn Long, Nicole Estes, and Maura Tressler, ancestors; Silas Howard, Mulan's father; Chole Chang, Mulan's mother; Haley Osborne, Grandmother Fa; and Emma Thomas, matchmaker. The ensemble included Ada Hickey, Aubrey Subbio, Ella Jahnigen, Ellyana Snyder, Gavin Taylor, Isaiah Allen, Jordan Braman, Kate Wallace, Layla Bohner, Liam McCurdy, Lucia Schertzer, Madi McGuigan, Mitchell Kinkley, Nina Cerminaro, Oceana Sams, Rachel Linnell, Srishti Gleeson, Sydney Laubach, Constance Flowers, Eddie Tran, Emma Thomas, Faith Fausnight, Jacob Sholder, Jaxon Umidi, Kristen Flanagan, Lauren Stine, Logan Shutt, Lucas Rodemaker, Maryn Lerch, Makenna Haldeman, Nolan Gordon, Norah Taylor, Riley O'Brien, Spencer Sweigart, Sylvia Linnell, Torree Roberson, Zoey Rohrbach, and Riley Beers.
