Mohler Center Plans Schedule

Mohler Senior Center, 25 Hope Drive, Hershey, has announced that membership renewals are available and has posted its schedule of activities. For more information or to register for an event, readers may contact 717-533-2002 or information@mohlerseniorcenter.com.

Penn State Health/HMC has renewed Mohler's lease at 25 Hope Drive until the summer of 2022. At that point, the senior center plans to move into its new home at the Hershey Community Center.

Due to Pennsylvania's social setting restrictions, Mohler Center will be closed to indoor activities until further notice. It will re-examine this policy by the end of the year. Also, as of Sept. 1 staff have begun offering limited office hours by appointment only.

As the center continues to expand its virtual offerings, it is also looking into offering computer or tablet loans for those who want to connect but do not have the ability. Those who would like to get a device may contact the staff.

Move, Groove and Grub with Kim from Country Meadows will take place on Friday, Sept. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot. A bagged lunch will be provided. Readers may register by Wednesday, Sept. 9. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 18.

The Jigsaw Puzzle and Book Exchange is open in the lobby by appointment only.

While the center cannot offer in-person Medicare counseling, there are resources available for those who are approaching Medicare age. For more information, readers may contact the center.

Smart Driver Classes have been suspended until 2021. Those who have computers can take the class online by visiting http://www.AARP.org. The center will put out a list of in-person classes in 2021.

A new Level 1 tap dancing class for beginners will be offered on Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. via Zoom. The class will highlight foundational tap dancing techniques and easy-to-learn choreography for beginners. No experience is necessary. There is a cost for each class.
