Mohler Center Sets Schedule

Mohler Senior Center, 25 Hope Drive, Hershey, will host a number of upcoming programs. For more information, readers may call the center at 717-533-2002 or visit http://www.mohlerseniorcenter.com. Weather-related closing and delay information will be shared on WGAL, WHP 21, and ABC 27, and individuals may also call the center and listen to the message after 7:30 a.m.

The center will close for the holidays starting on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020.

New in 2020, takeout will be available at the center on select dates. For a set donation, hot meals will be available from 2 to 5 p.m. Registration is not required. The menu will be as follows: Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020 - Swiss chicken, buttered noodles, and carrots; Wednesday, March 4, 2020 - ham, roasted red potatoes, and green beans; and Wednesday, April 1, 2020 - meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and roasted vegetables.

The Mohler Pantry, located in the vestibule of the lobby, will be stocked with free food and personal care items for those who need them. Individuals are welcome to take items when they need them and to leave items for others when they are able.

A few tickets to see "Hamilton" on Broadway are available. The group will leave the Mohler Center at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, with a 9:30 p.m. return. Separate costs have been set for the trip with no meal and for the trip with a meal at Gossip Irish Pub. Payment is due as soon as possible.

On Friday, Dec. 6, the center will take its annual trip for a buffet luncheon at The Circular at Hotel Hershey at 12:15 p.m. The cost includes all food, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and gratuity. Individuals may register in the office.

The holiday social with an annual meeting will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, at 11:30 a.m. The Lower Dauphin High School string quartet will share a concert of holiday favorites and sing-alongs. Lunch will be baked ham, sweet potato casserole, broccoli, four bean salad, and German chocolate cake. There is a cost, and reservations are needed by Tuesday, Dec. 10.

A Lunch and Learn with Helping Hands has been set for Monday, Dec. 16, at noon. Fourth-graders from East Hanover will visit, and attendees will hear holiday carols. Lunch will be goulash, a casserole with noodles, beef, and cheese, as well as salad and dessert. Lunch is free, but registration is required by Thursday, Dec. 12.

On Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., William Stillman, a psychic, will visit. Separate costs have been set for advance ticket purchases and for tickets purchased at the door.

Movie and Munchies at Mohler will take place on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at 11 a.m. The group will view "Poms," starring Diane Keaton. The program is free, but reservations are needed by Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020.

A Gift Game Lunch has been set for Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, at noon. Attendees should bring a wrapped gift to share. The group will play a game, and everyone who brought a gift will leave with a gift. Lunch will be chicken pie with crust, not noodles. Lunch is free, but registration is requested by Jan. 16, 2020.

A SOUP-er Bowl Party will take place on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at noon. Members will be able to enjoy an array of soups for tasting. Soup donations for the event are sought. Registration is requested by Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020.

Mohler Center will accept tax appointments for low- to moderate-income seniors in January. Appointments will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and most Fridays starting Feb. 3, 2020. Seniors may call the office to schedule an appointment.

The center and the AARP will partner to offer Smart Driver trainings throughout 2020. Four-hour trainings will be offered as follows: Jan. 16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursday, March 5, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesday, April 21, 5 to 9 p.m.; Thursday, May 14, 5 to 9 p.m.; Tuesday, July 28, 5 to 9 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 13, 5 to 9 p.m.; Thursday, Sept. 10, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursday, Oct. 15, 5 to 9 p.m.; and Thursday, Nov. 12, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eight-hour trainings have been scheduled as follows: Thursday and Friday, Feb. 6 and 7, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday, June 1 and 2, 5 to 9 p.m.; Saturdays, Aug. 1 and 8, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 14 and 15, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
