Moores Memorial Library, 9 W. Slokom Ave., Christiana, has posted its September schedule. Unless otherwise noted, activities will be free and open to the public. For more information, readers may call the library at 610-593-6683.
The "Ready, Set, Brush! 2019" challenge will begin on Monday, Sept. 9. Families can come in anytime during the next 10 weeks to pick up a starter kit. This Health Hero Starter Pack contains a toothbrush, toothpaste and instructions to record brushing. Children will record each morning and evening they brush their teeth and "mail" the cards in the special mailbox located in the library. The cards will be collected monthly, and everyone who completes the program will receive a prize mailed directly to their home in January 2020.
This program is appropriate for children from ages 3 to 9. Children can begin recording at any time during the program, which will end on Monday, Dec. 9. Packets are available for pickup during normal library hours: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The library's weekly storytime will resume on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning on Sept. 4. In conjunction with the "Ready, Set, Brush!" challenge, a special storytime with Hank the Health Hero focusing on nutrition will take place on Sept. 4. Hank will be back on Sept. 11 with a program on "Feeling" and again on Sept. 25, when his topic will be "Teeth."
Ongoing programs include the all-ages Lego club at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, Sept. 12 and 26; Adult Book Club on Sept. 4 at 4 p.m.; the Knit and Natter knitting and crocheting club at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Sept. 4 and 18; and yoga every Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The Friends of Moores Memorial Library run the Read Moore Bookstore on the lower level. It is open weekdays from 1 to 4 p.m. and from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
The library's 10th annual golf tournament will take place at Tanglewood Golf Course, 653 Scotland Road, Quarryville, on Monday, Sept. 16. To register a team or sponsor a hole, readers may call the library.
