MTSD Event To Highlight Resources

Manheim Township School District (MTSD) will host "Building a Resilient Manheim Township Community," a free event, on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 5:30 p.m. at Manheim Township High School, 115 Blue Streak Blvd., Lancaster.

The event will begin with resource tables and giveaways, followed by a presentation by speaker Dan Jurman, CEO of Community Action Partnership. His topic will be "The Intersection of Poverty and Trauma." After the presentation, the Manheim Township Football Booster Club will provide food in the stadium. Families may have a light dinner and engage in activities.

A variety of community partners are scheduled to host resource tables at the event. Community partners at the event will include Community Services Group (CSG), MHA/Suicide Prevention Coalition and Compeer Friendship Program, the Emerald Foundation, COBYS, KPETS, Aimee's Babies/STEM Starts Now, Move Forward Counseling, Compass Mark, and Forged in Fire.

Additionally, attendees may receive information from Lancaster County Crime Prevention Task Force, which provides prescription medication lockboxes and other general crime prevention resources; Lancaster County Campaign Against the Sexual Exploitation of Children, which provides resources, such as books, to prevent sexual exploitation of children; Its a Playful Journey, which offers play therapy and counseling with a trauma focus; and Child Find, an early intervention program for children birth to age 5. MTSD will provide early learning information.

Members of the Manheim Township High School sports teams will provide child care for children in kindergarten through fourth grade.

The event is part of the Manheim Township Trauma Informed Community Partnership.
