Simon Gow Munyan, son of Daniel and Leslie Munyan of Elizabethtown, received a three-year research fellowship from the National Science Foundation (NSF), to study quantum material physics at the University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB). He received the fellowship on April 4.
Simon is a 2017 graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School and a 2020 graduate of Penn State University, where he received his bachelor's degree in material science and engineering, with a minor in photonic and electronic materials. Simon has completed his second year as a Ph.D. student at UCSB, building nanoscale devices for quantum computing. Earlier this year, he was awarded a three-year research fellowship at UCSB's NSF-funded Quantum Foundry.
