Museum To Begin Speaker Series

The National Civil War Museum (NCWM) will offer 12 free lectures in its Lessons in History Speaker Series. The annual kickoff to the new year, "New Acquisitions and Seldom-Seen Treasures of the Museum," will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 1 to 2 p.m.

NCWM curator Brett E. Kelley will lecture on the newest NCWM donations and how they will supplement existing museum artifacts, both on display and preserved in artifact storage. This presentation will include a display of these donations and additions to the museum collection in the Education Gallery on the first floor.

Kelley has a Bachelor of Arts in American studies from Pennsylvania State University and has been with the museum full-time since June 2000. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps with the rank of sergeant in 1999.

The 2020 Lessons in History program is free to the public. Regular museum admission applies for entrance to the museum galleries.
