Local pastry chef Susan Notter recently participated in the Culinary Olympics, an international culinary competition held every four years in Germany. Approximately 1,800 chefs from 67 countries participated.
Notter was a member of the USA Regional team made up of four chefs and a pastry chef from the East Coast of the U.S. The team had spent the previous year practicing its cold display program which included a five-course menu, four different finger foods, three appetizer plates, four plated desserts, and a showpiece.
The team won a gold medal and placed third on points from all the regional teams.
Notter has lived in Lancaster for approximately 10 years and has spent eight years as the program director of the pastry arts program at YTI Career Institute. She now works for Felchlin Switzerland and travels throughout the U.S. teaching and doing presentations for chefs.
