Opioids Discussion Will Continue

Sep 22, 2019 - 2:00 pm

The third installment in a series about opioids will take place in the Community Center at McKendree United Methodist Church, 3708 Delta Road (Route 74), Airville, on Sunday, Sept. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. York County judge Kathleen Prendergast will speak about Family Wellness Court and how the community can help families dealing with addiction issues. When parents deal with their addiction, the court is responsible for ensuring that children are cared for by grandparents, by foster families, or via other living arrangements.

Prendergast was appointed to the Court of Common Pleas of York County in July 2016. She was then elected to that office and began serving her elected term in January 2018. Prior to being on the bench, she was an attorney for 22 years. During that time, in addition to her work as a private attorney in primarily family law matters, she served as a custody mediator, parenting coordinator, GAL for children, and court-appointed attorney for parents in dependency cases. Previously, she was an English teacher at Dallastown Area High School.

The community is invited to attend. For information, readers may visit http://www.mckendreeairville.com or call 717-862-3700.
