Organization Sets "Bonsai 101"

The Lancaster Bonsai Society will offer "Bonsai 101" on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Cottage Classroom of Stauffers of Kissel Hill Home & Garden Store, 301 Rohrerstown Road, Lancaster. In the case of snow, the class will take place on Saturday, Feb. 29, and information will be posted on the "Lancaster Bonsai Society" page on Facebook.

"Bonsai 101" will offer an opportunity for the public to learn more about the art of bonsai under the guidance of Dr. Ryan Wagner, a club veteran and an associate professor of plant physiology and botany at Millersville University.

The class will include an introduction to bonsai and tips on growing and caring for bonsai trees as well as a demonstration of how one can create his or her own bonsai tree from common nursery plants. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

"Bonsai 101" is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, readers may contact the Lancaster Bonsai Society at LancasterBonsai@gmail.com.
