Orwig Earns Eagle Scout Award

Dalton E. Orwig, a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 155 at Chapel Church in Red Lion, earned his Eagle Scout Award with seven palms on June 12, 2018. The Eagle Scout Award is the highest rank in Boy Scouting.

For his Eagle project, Orwig carried out repairs at the Izzak Walton League Chapter 67 in Dallastown. Orwig repaired and repoured crumbling concrete foundation walls, tore off the front sheeting of the building, raised the two entry doors and then replaced them, and raised, restoned, and repoured a new concrete floor in the original clubhouse. The building, which was previously used only for storage because of its deteriorating condition, will now be used as a meeting place for the junior members of the Izzak Walton League.

Orwig was awarded his Eagle Scout badge and medal at a Court of Honor ceremony on Jan. 12. He also became a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. His troop, family members, and friends, as well as state Rep. Stan Saylor, were in attendance.
