Pack 47 Sets Sign-Up Night

Manheim's Cub Scout Pack 47 will hold a sign-up night on Monday, Aug. 5, at Scout Hall, located on Scout Alley between North Hazel Street and North Linden Street. Interested individuals may stop by between 6 and 8 p.m.

Boys in first to fifth grades, along with their parents or guardians, are invited to meet the den leaders and enjoy some Scouting activities. A tent and campfire will be set up outside. The boys can explore the campsite and meet some of the Cub Scouts. Leaders will be available to answer questions about the pack and assist with registration forms.

Pack 47 has various outings planned for the upcoming year. In September, Pack 47 will do an evening hike to Governor Dick. In October, the group will walk in the Manheim Farm Show Parade, camp out at Cuborama with other local packs, and have a harvest party. The Scouts will go caroling at a retirement home in December and plan to visit the local police station. The boys will also design and paint their Pinewood Derby cars to race in the annual event in January.

The Cub Scouts complete requirements during the year to advance in rank. Boys join a den based on their grade in school: first grade is Tiger, second grade is Wolf, third grade is Bear, fourth grade is Webelos, and fifth grade is Arrow of Light. On the first and second Mondays of the month, Tiger, Webelos, and Arrow of Light dens meet. On the first and second Tuesdays of the month, Wolf and Bear dens meet. All dens meet on the fourth Monday of the month for a pack event.

A registration fee is required for all Scouts, and financial assistance is available. Readers with questions may contact Kris Kalicicki at kkalicicki@gmail.com.
