Local Scout Byron Seidel is pursuing the rank of Eagle. For his Eagle Scout project, he wanted to provide a science center experience for children who may not have the means to go to an actual science center. He decided to design educational signs that would highlight a principle of physics demonstrated by pieces of playground equipment.
In addition to raising money for the project, he also planned to install the signs at a local park. A year ago, he met with Bring on Play of York, which has supported the project and helped to bring it to fruition.
In conjunction with the installation of the two educational signs, the York County Parks and Recreation Department is organizing a park beautification on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Westminster Park, 152 Perry Place, York. The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. The community is welcome to support the effort.
