Lancaster County Parks Department has posted its schedule of programs. The events will take place at the Lancaster County Central Park Environmental Center, 1 Nature's Way, Lancaster. There is a registration fee for each event, and the registration deadline is noon one business day prior to the event. Mini Ecosystems: Terrarium in a Jar for people age 8 and up will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. With naturalist Aaron Hasircoglu, attendees will make their own terrarium. Children and adults alike will learn about plants, invertebrates, and creating a miniature ecosystem. Supplies will be provided for an additional fee.
Munchkin Science: Mammals for children ages 3 to 5 will be offered on Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 1 to 2 p.m. Naturalist Ann Strauss will lead an up-close examination of furs, skulls, and skeletons. Participants will also play with mammal tracks and make track books to take home. Participants will take an exploration walk to look for signs that mammals leave behind.
