A Boardwalk Bird Walk will take place on Sunday, April 14, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Participants will hike from Hess Farm Road parking area at William Kain County Park in York to the boardwalk to view early spring migrants and migrating water birds with a parks naturalist. The hike will be a slow-paced, half-mile walk on a woodland trail along the lake's edge. Lending binoculars will be available. There is no fee to participate.
A Natural Egg Dyeing Program will be held in the Nature Center at Nixon County Park, 5922 Nixon Drive, York, on Saturday, April 20. Two one-hour sessions will be offered, beginning at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Participants will learn the history and lore of egg dyeing, then try the art of dyeing eggs naturally using onion skins, blueberries, coffee, and more with park staff and volunteers. Attendees should bring up to a dozen hardboiled eggs and wear old clothes. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The program is appropriate for individuals age 5 through adults. There is a fee per participant, with no fee for helpers.
