North Museum of Nature and Science, 400 College Ave., Lancaster, in conjunction with the Philatelic Society of Lancaster County, has developed a new program for its young guests. The Passport to Discovery program features an all-color booklet that includes space for the children to match up canceled commemorative postage stamps with displays in the museum.
Children will be given the opportunity to search through boxes of canceled postage stamps to find a match to the clues given in their Passport to Discovery booklets. They may then paste the stamps they find into their Passport to Discovery booklet in the space allotted. There will be prizes awarded for those who finish their booklets.
This activity is intended to introduce children to the hobby of stamp collecting and give them another new way to explore North Museum. The program will run through August.
There is a cost for the Passport to Discovery booklets, plus admission to the museum. Readers may visit http://www.northmuseum.org or call 717-358-3941 for more information. To learn more about the Philatelic Society of Lancaster County, readers may visit http://www.lcps-stamps.org.
