The Pennsylvania SPCA has announced that it has been recognized by the Bissell Pet Foundation to receive a grant. The grant, which totals $10,025, will be used to alter (spay/neuter) adoptable animals at the organization's Erie Avenue headquarters and Danville and Lancaster centers throughout the month of July.
Every animal that is adopted from the Pennsylvania SPCA, regardless of location, is altered prior to leaving the facility, is up-to-date on vaccines, and is microchipped. These costs are included in the adoption fee. The Bissell Pet Foundation's grant will cover the cost of medical supplies and surgery for adoptable animals throughout the month of July.
The Pennsylvania SPCA has been helping animals in Philadelphia and throughout the state dating back to its founding in 1867 to protect horses. Today, the organization continues to rescue animals from cruelty and neglect, extending its reach throughout the state. Within the last year, the Pennsylvania SPCA has added low-cost spay/neuter services to both its Lancaster and Danville locations. Erie Avenue has long been providing the service as an affordable option to Philadelphia and the surrounding region.
