PHEAA will host a series of virtual financial aid webinars throughout October and November to help students and families understand the application and awarding process, in addition to various funding options. Webinars on "Understanding Financial Aid Offers and Balances" and "Covering the Gap: Pieces of the Puzzle to Help Pay Your Education Bill" will be offered.
"Understanding Financial Aid Offers and Balances" will take place at noon on Thursdays, Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, and at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, and Wednesday, Nov. 18. Financial aid offers that students receive from schools after completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) provide an idea of the costs associated with postsecondary education. PHEAA representatives will present a one-hour webinar to assist families in understanding and navigating the different types of financial aid, understanding what students are being offered, identifying funding balances and planning next steps.
"Covering the Gap: Pieces of the Puzzle to Help Pay Your Education Bill" will take place at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and at 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, and Tuesday, Nov. 17. PHEAA representatives will present one-hour webinars on how to cover any gaps in a student's higher education funding plan. These webinars emphasize best practices, remind families about additional resources, and discuss private/alternative loans as a last resort. The presentation will also include what a credit score is, what factors impact a credit score, how a credit score can be improved and the effects on borrowing capability.
Students and families can participate in any of these events by registering at http://www.pheaa.org and looking under Partner Access for Resources and Training. Readers should click on Training Events and then the registration link under PHEAA Webinars.
