Angelina Phillips, 17, of Exton was recently named the winner of the James Deitz Memorial Concerto Competition sponsored by the Mainline Symphony Orchestra (MLSO). Angelina will solo with the orchestra during two performances on Friday, May 3, and Sunday, May 5, performing Camille Saint-Saëns' "Havanaise," Op. 83, for violin and orchestra.
Angelina currently studies violin with Kimberly Fisher, principal second violinist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Angelina has played at nursing homes, including Atria Center City, the Watermark in Philadelphia, and Golden Slippers in Rosemont, as well as Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del. In addition to classical music, Angelina enjoys playing old-time fiddle music. She is an 11th-grade homeschooled student, and she is an honor student.
Angelina is the daughter of Glenn and Angela Phillips.
