Susquehanna National Heritage Area has announced a fundraising effort, which will be held in place of the Summer Soiree, a River Experience. The organization decided that a gathering with the continued uncertainty of COVID-19 was not feasible.
For a donation of $50 or more, donors will receive a Picnic Passport Pack, which includes a picnic blanket provided by Donegal Insurance Group and a picnic guide featuring prime picnic locations along the Susquehanna River in York and Lancaster counties. The guide will also include short features on area restaurants where picnic meals may be picked up. These restaurants are ones that have supported Susquehanna National Heritage Area in previous River Experiences.
Donors will be asked to pick up the blankets at either Columbia Crossing River Trails Center, 41 Walnut St., Columbia, or the Zimmerman Center for Heritage, 1706 Long Level Road, Wrightsville. The campaign will run from Saturday, Aug. 1, to Wednesday, Sept. 30.
