Pollinator Program Set

Aug 03, 2019 - 9:30 am

Green Valleys Watershed Association, located at Welkinweir, 1368 Prizer Road, Pottstown, will host "Pollinator Search" on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Attendees will learn about pollinators, from the basics of identifying these creatures to how to support them on one's property. Participants will be able to practice their pollinator identification skills on a walk through Welkinweir's gardens and meadows.

Participants will also learn about monarch butterflies and observe the release of hand-raised monarchs. Attendees will learn how thoughtful planning of home gardens and open spaces can help sustain monarchs and other pollinators, which face adversities such as the development of natural areas, replacement of native vegetation with exotic plants, and a changing climate. These influences threaten the monarch butterfly's habitats.

This program is open to individuals age 6 to adult. No experience is necessary. The program will be held rain or shine. There is a fee per person. Registration is required by contacting Rebecca Blacketter at rebecca@greenvalleys.org or 610-469-4900.
