In lieu of its annual Harvest Festival, Pig Roast, and Auction, Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community (MHNRC) will instead benefit from a curbside pickup pork barbecue fundraiser held by LCBC, Manheim Campus, 2392 Mount Joy Road, on Friday, Oct. 9, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in the church parking lot. The per-meal cost is $11.
Each meal will include slow-roasted pulled pork with barbecue sauce, a baked potato and butter, a dinner roll, applesauce, and a dessert. Preorders will be received, and meals will be saved under the name provided when ordered. All payments are to be made when picking up the meals on Oct. 9.
Proceeds will help to support MHNRC. To preorder, readers may call Kris Wilson, director of advancement, at 717-682-8026 or email advancement@mthopenazarene.org by Sunday, Oct. 4. Extra meals will be available while supplies last. Due to coronavirus restrictions, those serving meals will follow CDC guidelines. No handling of money will occur on the day of food pickup. A dropbox will be provided for customers to leave payment in the form of cash or of checks made payable to "Mt. Hope NRC."
Located in Rapho Township, Manheim, Mount Hope is a 50-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. It has been named a five-star nursing facility in the county by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and is largely supported by Medicaid. MHNRC accepts senior applicants regardless of their ability to pay for the cost of their nursing care. All donations go toward the care of the residents, according to Wilson.
