Program Will Spotlight Hex Signs

Nov 09, 2019 - 1:30 pm

The Lititz Historical Foundation will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 1:30 p.m. at the Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz.

After a brief business meeting, Eric Claypoole will present "The Art of the Hex Sign." Claypoole is a second-generation folk artist from Berks County. He restores barn stars and also paints hex signs, which are colorful Pennsylvania German symbols that originally date to the area's founding in the 1700s and can be found on many barns across the region. Over the course of his career, Claypoole has worked on more than 80 barns in the region.

The program is free and open to the public. To register, readers may call the library at 717-626-2255.
