Scouts and leaders will converge on Lisburn Community Fire Company, 1800 Main St., Lisburn, on Friday, April 26, to Sunday, April 28, for a weekend of hands-on activities and demonstrations that will show how the fire, ambulance, and police departments are vital to the communities they serve. The objective is to give young people the opportunity to see the need for volunteers in their communities as they become young adults. The majority of events will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.
Scouts will have a chance to learn about fingerprinting, explore all varieties of firefighting vehicles, and compete in firefighting drills, along with relay races and a bucket brigade competition. The event will also feature a police dog demonstration, vehicle extrication, and the dangers of drunk driving.
The public is encouraged to attend. For more information, readers may call Capt. Frank Wirth at 717-975-7575.
