York Quilters Guild will meet on Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, 1030 Carlisle Road, York. The meeting will be a make-and-take. Six-sided hexagram quilt blocks will be used to embellish small items like hand towels. Guests are welcome.
In February, Sarah O'Sullivan lectured and demonstrated quilting with rulers, a technique for precise quilting.
The guild's biggest event is a quilt show, which will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 29 and 30, at Grumbaker Sports and Fitness Center at York College. Celebration of Quilts, "A Quilter's Journey: Then and Now," will showcase 20 quilters' early quilts side by side with their latest quilts. Registration is open for quilt entries for the judged show. For more information, readers may visit http://www.celebrationofquilts.com.
The quilt show will feature a flower show presented by The Garden Club Federation of PA, District IV during. For one admission price, participants can attend both shows.
The group's goal is to encourage interest in quilting by offering fun, educational activities for members and the community. Monthly meetings are held at Zion United Methodist Church.
