Railroad Museum Offers Programs

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, 300 Gap Road, Strasburg, offers family-friendly and innovative education and preservation programs. Also, the museum's world-class collection of about 100 historic locomotives and vintage railroad cars includes everything from classic wood burners and mammoth steam locomotives to sleek, electric-powered and diesel engines. A number of authentic locomotives and railroad cars are open regularly for visitors to explore.

In addition, the museum will offer a variety of special events throughout the year. Special events will include Railroading Merit Badge workshops, Reading on the Rails, a Charter Day celebration, Rails and Ales, Reading Railroad Days, Riding the Rails of Norway Ramble, Barons and Builders Day Camp, Model Railroading Days, Railroad Heritage Day, Members Day, Garden Railways Tour, Trains of the Green and White Mountains Ramble, Trains and Treats, Trains and Troops, 1940s Swing Dance, Christmas With the Conductor parties, Home for the Holidays, and more.

There is an admission fee to the museum, with discounts for seniors age 65 and over and children ages 3 to 11. Children age 2 and under may visit free of charge. There is a separate fee for most special events.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The museum is closed on Mondays during November through March. Hours, admissions, events, and other activities may be subject to change without notice.
