Railroad Museum Plans Virtual Programs

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania has scheduled three virtual prgorams. Programs are offered via Zoom, and interested individuals may register at http://www.eventbrite.com.

A Virtual Happy Hour with the topic "Sports" will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. The program will be a live chat about some of the sports-related objects at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, Anthracite Heritage Museum, Eckley Miners' Village and Pennsylvania Military Museum. A beverage recipe is included. Tickets are available by donation.

A Virtual Trivia Night has been set for Friday, Sept. 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. Participants may team up with family and friends or be assigned a team. One does not need to have a knowledge of trains to participate. Questions in history, geography, science, technology, sports and popular culture will be suitable for people of all ages. Separate ticket fees have been set for individuals, for teams of two to four people and for teams of five to eight people.

The Power of Steam Virtual Tour will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. Viewers will receive a behind-the-scenes virtual tour of the museum's restored, historic Pennsylvania Railroad E6s locomotive No. 460, the "Lindbergh Engine," and Bethlehem Steel fireless locomotive No. 111. Also included will be a demonstration, using a model steam locomotive, of how steam locomotives work. The program will end with a question-and-answer time. Tickets are available by donation.

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is home to a world-class collection of about 100 historic locomotives and railroad cars, a working restoration shop, an immersive education center and programs, an extensive library and archives, special events and exhibits and a museum store.
