Railroad Museum Posts Programs

The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania will offer two virtual programs in late October, focusing on various aspects of railroad history. Tickets are by donation, and registration is available at http://www.eventbrite.com.

It's Electric will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 7 to 8 p.m. The special virtual tour will feature four fascinating pieces of historic, electric rolling stock, including the museum's Reading Company multiple unit No. 800, Pennsylvania Railroad B1 No. 5690, Pennsylvania Railroad E44 No. 4465, and Pennsylvania Railroad GG1 No. 4935.

A Moveable Feast will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26. The virtual program will feature museum rolling stock related to the delivery and consumption of food. The program will highlight the Fruit Growers Express refrigerator car, the Pullman Lotos Club car, and the Olomana locomotive. The program will take a look at how the growth of railroads changed how America ate and how food changed the way railroads operated.

A Smithsonian affiliate, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is one of 24 historic sites and museums administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission as part of the Pennsylvania Trails of History, with the active support of the nonprofit Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.
