Eastern York Recreation Authority (EYRA) will offer a variety of programs in June. There is a fee per person per program, unless otherwise stated. Space is limited, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Basic Handgun Safety for individuals age 18 and older will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 4, at the Lower Windsor Township Building, 2425 Craley Road, Wrightsville. This course qualifies those who complete it for the Point Blank Defense Basic Pistol certificate.
A Rain Barrel Workshop will be offered at Rexroth Park, 1910 Prayer Mission Road, Windsor, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9. Attendees will learn about managing storm water on their property. Participants may put the finishing touches on a barrel to take home. The workshop is free, but there is a fee for the rain barrel kit.
An American Red Cross Babysitting Course for individuals ages 11 to 15 will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, June 21, at Rexroth Park. The course will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants.
Camp Babysitter 101 will be held at Rexroth Park from Tuesday, June 22, through Thursday, June 24, for participants ages 11 to 15. The camp will feature American Red Cross Babysitting Training, American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED, and Community Day.
An American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Training will take place on Friday, June 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rexroth Park. The program is open to youths ages 11 to 16. Students who successfully complete this course receive a certificate for Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.
Upcycle for the Birds will be offered from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, at the pavilion at Barshinger Fields, located on Accomac Road in York. Participants will turn an empty 12-ounce bottle into a bird feeder. The program is free.
