The Red Rose City of Lancaster and the White Rose City of York have much in common, according to Cory Van Brookhoven, president of the Lititz Historical Foundation, and Dominish Miller, founder of Preserving the History of Newberrytown.
Together, Van Brookhoven and Miller will present "The Lancaster and York County Connection" at the Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz, on Saturday, July 23, at 1:30 p.m. Similarities in architecture, industry, religion, and more will be discussed.
Miller is the Third Circuit Court of Appeals librarian for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. She has authored two volumes of the cookbook "Preserving the History of Newberrytown: A Community Cookbook From the Cooks of Newberrytown, Pennsylvania." Miller is also a re-enactor with the 87th Regiment, PVI. She portrays a private in the 87th Pennsylvania Company C.
Van Brookhoven is the author of several local history books. He also runs a Facebook group called "Remember When ... in Lititz."
The program is free, but seating is limited to 75. Beginning Friday, July 8, those wishing to attend may contact the library at 717-626-2255 to make reservations.
