Relocated Library Celebrates Grand Opening

The Adamstown Area Library Board of Trustees hosted a grand opening ceremony on June 17 for the new Adamstown Area Library, located at 110 W. Main St., Adamstown. The event included opening remarks, and guests were also able to explore the inside of the new library.

The new library features a community room, a reading room with a fireplace, and a children's room with a Hundred-Acre Wood theme. The children's room is a space where young visitors and their caregivers can explore, learn and create. It will feature hands-on learning materials to aid children and caregivers in early literacy and kindergarten readiness, including a dedicated craft space to aid in creative exploration.

Construction of the new building was completed in the summer of 2020. However, a grand opening celebration was delayed due to COVID. With many COVID restrictions lifted, library patrons are now invited to more fully enjoy the new library.

The Adamstown Area Library has been serving the community since 1954, when it was housed in the basement of the Adamstown YMCA. The library service area includes Adamstown and Denver boroughs and Brecknock, East Cocalico and West Cocalico townships.
