Manheim meant the world to Bea Myers Kreiner. "Manheim meant so much to her because she spent practically her entire life here, from graduation to a long teaching career," said Denny Enck, a friend of Kreiner. "She was involved with many Manheim organizations."
Kreiner passed away in December 2020, and a celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Manheim railroad station, 210 S. Charlotte St. The celebration will begin at 2 p.m.
A 1962 graduate of Manheim Central High School, Kreiner returned to her alma mater in 1966. She spent 30 years teaching art at the school, where she touched the lives of countless students and encouraged many to pursue further education and careers in art. After retiring from teaching, she continued to serve her community by volunteering with numerous organizations including the Manheim Central Alumni Association, the Manheim Farm Show, Manheim Little Theatre, the Manheim Bicentennial Committee and the Manheim Central Student Loan Fund Association.
Enck first got to know Kreiner when she was his art teacher in high school. "In later years, we served together on the Manheim Central Alumni Association," he said. "We are both charter members of the Manheim Central Hall of Fame Board, and I worked closely with her on projects for the Manheim Historical Society."
The celebration of life will be hosted by Kreiner's sisters, Anne Myers and Nancy Myers Blackwell, and will feature three speakers - Dennis Denenberg, Dan Barthold and Mike Clair - along with songs performed by Tim Hoffman.
"After her passing, her oldest sister, Nancy, found some notes left by Bea, and she listed the people she would like at her celebration to speak and sing," Enck explained. "Dennis Denenberg and Mike Clair are both people she was involved with on various committees for many years, and Dan Barthold was an art student of Bea's." At Kreiner's encouragement, Barthold sought a career in art and is a longtime freelance artist from Manheim.
Light refreshments will be served following the program. All arrangements are pending COVID restrictions.
