York Habitat for Humanity will officially cut the ribbon on its new ReStore site, located in the Queensgate Shopping Center, 2001-2099 S. Queen St., York, on Saturday, Oct. 17. The ribbon-cutting event will take place at 9:30 a.m., with the official grand opening of ReStore to follow at 10 a.m. Grand opening festivities on Oct. 17 will include a giveaway to the first 100 shoppers, promotions, sales, and opportunities to win credit to use at ReStore.
ReStore is a home improvement outlet and new program for York Habitat for Humanity that sells donated furniture, hardware items, tools, and other products for home renovations and upkeep. In keeping with the organization's "a hand up, not a handout" philosophy, these items will be sold for a lower cost than they would be at a standard department store. Proceeds from ReStore will be used to fund other projects that the organization is working on throughout the community.
Donations are collected at the drop-off zone behind the store, or arrangements can be made for pickup from a residence. Volunteer opportunities include picking up donations, stocking shelves, helping customers, and various other tasks. More details are available at http://www.yorkhabitat.org.
