Safe Communities Posts Programs

Safe Communities, a Lancaster organization dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse and supporting adult survivors, has a variety of programs for survivors and the community. A men's group for survivors of child sexual abuse will feature four virtual sessions on Zoom for education and connection on Wednesdays, Sept. 8 to 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Survivor Voices, an interview with Cathy Collyer, author of "Staying in the Room," will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, Sept. 21, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Its purpose is to provide trauma survivors with tools to face any medical or dental appointment and to educate therapists and health care providers.

Journey With Tamar: A Retreat for Adult Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse, a day of reflection, connection, and education, will take place in the Manheim area on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thriving My Way: A Wellness Workshop Series, will feature three virtual sessions on Zoom on Wednesdays, Oct. 6 to 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for a set fee. Circle of Hope, for adult survivors of child sexual abuse, will offer four virtual sessions on Zoom on Tuesdays, Oct. 19 to Nov. 9, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

In addition, churches and organizations are encouraged to invite Safe Communities to present grant-funded prevention programs available through the fall. These include an interview with a survivor and the pastor during worship, a workshop of Walking With Survivors, and prevention workshops for youths and adults.
