Safe Communities Sets Programs

Safe Communities will offer two special programs in May. The events are open to the community, and registration is required. For details and registration, visit http://www.safecommunitiespa.org or call 717-560-9989.

Safe Communities will offer a three-part virtual workshop to mitigate the stress and angst caused by the reopening after closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The workshop, "Reopening Anxiety: It's Normal. Let's Talk About It," will be held virtually via Zoom on Tuesdays, May 11 to 25, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The workshop will present a holistic healing approach and is designed for anyone who would like to reduce stress and explore ways to calm the body and the mind and get ready to face the new normal. There is a cost for all three sessions. For details, contact Neeta Dedhia at info@safecommunitiespa.org.

A Journey With Tamar retreat for adult survivors of child sexual abuse will be offered on Saturday, May 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Branch Network in the Ridgeview Mennonite Church building, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville. Adults who were sexually abused as children or teens are invited to attend for reflection, connection, and education. The event will include information about the impact of trauma, common symptoms, and tools for managing stressful emotions. The program will also look at how the expectation of forgiveness can be difficult for survivors, as well as discuss what healing looks like.

All adult survivors of child sexual abuse are welcome. There is no cost to attend. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. COVID-19 precautions required by the state at that time will be taken. For details, contact Andrea Stoner at andrea@safecommunitiespa.org.
