SALT To Host Princess Party

Feb 08, 2020 -

Building on the success of last year's event, SALT Performing Arts will host its second annual Princess Party fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 8, at its theater in the West Pikeland Township Building, 1645 Art School Road, Chester Springs. There will be seatings at 9 and 11:30 a.m.

During the event, children of all ages will be able to meet beloved princesses, princes, fairies and other fairy-tale characters. Attendees are encouraged to dress up as princesses and princes for the event.

The ticket price includes a meet-and-greet with all the characters, food and beverages, dancing and face painting by professional makeup artists, as well as photo and autograph opportunities. There will also be a chance to win prizes that have been donated by local businesses.

Both boys and girls are invited to attend. "New this year is a court jester, who is a stand-up comedian," noted Judy Elliott, marketing director for SALT Performing Arts. "We also made a point have more princes this year."

Guests will be greeted by the Fairy Godmother, and they will go into the theater and help themselves to food, which will include bagels, Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets, mini doughnuts, cookies, fruit, coffee and water. "Then, one by one, the princesses and princes will be introduced by a master of ceremonies," Elliott explained. "He is also a magician and will be doing magic tricks."

She said that several of the costumed characters appeared as leads in recent SALT shows in past seasons. "It will be more of a sing-along this year with some popular songs," she pointed out, noting that there will also be dancing to pop music.

"All the royals have fabulous voices, and (attendees) will be delighted with the princess sing-alongs," added Lauren McComas, SALT artistic director and president.

Elliott said that the event was well-attended last year and that parents and grandparents enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren during the special event. "Last year, it was a blast. There are so many opportunities to take photos. It was a cuteness explosion," Elliott recalled. "Some of the cutest things were the dads dancing with their daughters, who were all dressed up."

"At the end, we have a giveaway with some nice items like a free week of camp at SALT and tickets to shows with gift cards to Limoncello (Ristorante)," she added.

All attendees will also take home a party favor.

Members of the SALT community have volunteered to plan and host the event. All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit SALT Performing Arts, a nonprofit organization that provides live community theater productions, summer and yearlong theater camps for children, dinner theater events and more.

The snow date for the Princess Party fundraiser will be Sunday, Feb. 9, at 9 and 11:30 a.m. Tickets are available at http://www.saltpa.ticketleap.com/princess-party.
