School Hosts Virtual Concert

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted every facet of life, including education. The nation's youngest learners are, in many districts, being asked to mentally process this global crisis while also navigating the necessary world of remote learning.

Elementary students in the York Suburban School District are no different. They began the district's version of in-home instruction, called Forward Learning, on April 1.

In an effort to make the social and emotional transition easier for its kindergarten through second-grade students, York Suburban School District's two primary buildings, Valley View Elementary and Yorkshire Elementary, hosted a virtual concert on April 3. Steven Courtney, an award-winning children's musician from Lancaster, provided the entertainment during what is believed to be one of York County's first school-based virtual concerts. Additionally, it was Courtney's inaugural performance using an entirely online setting.

Students attended the concert via the Zoom video conferencing platform. For more information, readers may contact Dr. Todd Monos, Valley View Elementary principal, at tmonos@yssd.org or 717-577-4120.
