This fall the Pennsylvania Dutch Council of the Boy Scouts of America is running a campaign to recruit Cub Scouts in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Through the campaign, called Rocket Into Scouting, all youths ages 5 to 11 who join Scouting as a new Cub through Saturday, Sept. 28, will receive a new rocket to build.
After building their rocket, the youths can shoot it off during a community event at Paradise Park, 6 London Vale Road, Gordonville, on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the event, hosted by the Conestoga River District of the Pennsylvania Dutch Council, youths may sign in and learn the basics of Scouting and rocketry. Parents will have the opportunity to see the experiences, friendships, and opportunities that Scouting can offer to children.
