Southern End Community Association (SECA), 299 Park Ave., Quarryville, will offer the following programs and events in December.
Preschool Story Hour for children ages 3 to 6 will take place on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The program will include a story, a craft, and a snack. Attendees are asked to register in advance.
Karate will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the SECA Rec Center. The first class is free. The class will not meet on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 26.
SECA will offer cash bingo on Fridays, Dec. 6 and 20. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and games will begin at 7 p.m. Food and beverages will be available to purchase.
A Basic Life Support and Recertification Class will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17. There is a cost for the class, though renewals will receive a discount. The registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 13.
Cookies With Santa will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, in conjunction with a family gingerbread house competition. Gingerbread houses should be brought to SECA ready for judging. Space is limited. A Kid's Painting Party for chidren age 6 and up hosted by Painting With A Twist at the SECA Rec Center will take place on Friday, Dec. 27, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. SECA will offer "Winter Escape" STEAM workshops with Snapology over the holiday break on Monday, Dec. 30. Students will work with a team to solve a one-hour snow-related problem to bring the snow back to town. Participants will decode puzzles and then learn how to make their own snow. Students in grades one to four (ages 6 to 9) will meet from 10 to 11:15 a.m. Students in grade five and up (age 10 and up) will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. There is a fee to register, and a multiple-child discount is available.
