The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, invites area seniors to its upcoming programs. The center, a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging, is open regularly on Mondays through Fridays. On Thursday, Nov. 7, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., The First Thanksgiving at 10:15 a.m., Our Amish Neighbors at 11 a.m., Walk With Ease at 12:30 p.m., and pinochle at 1 p.m. Lunch will be a baked crab cake sandwich on a whole-grain sandwich roll, a cheesy twist, stewed tomatoes, and mandarin oranges.
Activities on Friday, Nov. 8, will include walking at 9 a.m., Bible study or table games at 10 a.m., Vaughn's Challenge at 11 a.m., Walk With Ease at 12:30 p.m., and a TGIF dinner at 5 p.m. Lunch will be Swedish meatballs over egg noodles, peas, wheat bread, and mixed fruit salad.
On Monday, Nov. 11, the center will be closed but open for a salute to veterans sponsored by Maytown American Legion Auxiliary. There will be a covered dish luncheon.
The schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 12, will feature walking at 9 a.m., chair exercise at 9:30 a.m., an activity with a preschool at 10 a.m., Being Grateful by Sue Tushingham at 11 a.m., and Current Events at 1 p.m. Lunch will be chili corn carne, tossed salad with tomato and dressing, a baked potato with margarine, cornbread, and a cookie.
On Wednesday, Nov. 13, the center will feature walking at 9 a.m., bingo exercise at 9:30 a.m., Wii Bowling or table games at 10 a.m., Seniors Helping Seniors at 10:30 a.m., Ukulele Band at 2 p.m., and Seniors in GEARS at 4 p.m. Lunch will be baked chicken with gravy, whipped potatoes, wheat bread, carrots, and applesauce.
The center's annual bazaar will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will include attic treasures, books, candies, an all-you-can-eat breakfast and more.
