Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, is open with limited hours and limited activities. For more information or to make reservations for meals or attendance, readers may call the center at 717-367-7984.
Face masks and social distancing are no longer required. Reservations are required and must be made two days in advance. Donations will be accepted at the door.
The senior center will resume serving eat-in hot lunches at noon on Mondays through Fridays. Reservations are required two days in advance.
Activities on Thursday, Aug. 19, will be coffee, table games, and puzzles at 8:30 a.m.; chair tai chi at 9:30 a.m.; and Aggravation or Uno at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be a porcupine ball with tomato sauce, garlic whipped potatoes, coin carrots, a dinner roll, and strawberry shortcake.
On Friday, Aug. 20, breakfast will be available from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The schedule will also include coffee, table games, and puzzles at 8:30 a.m.; darts at 9:30 a.m.; and team trivia with Vaughn at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be a mild buffalo chicken salad with lettuce, baked potato soup, a sandwich roll, and fresh melon.
The schedule on Monday, Aug. 23, will feature coffee, table games, and puzzles at 8:30 a.m.; darts at 9:30 a.m.; and a robot training game at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be a cheeseburger on a roll, barbecue butter beans, macaroni salad, and fresh cantaloupe.
On Tuesday, Aug. 24, the center will offer coffee, table games, and puzzles at 8:30 a.m.; chair tai chi at 9:30 a.m.; and Farkle at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be parmesan chicken over lemon asparagus pasta, a tossed salad with tomato, Italian bread, and applesauce.
The schedule on Wednesday, Aug. 25, will include coffee, table games, and puzzles at 8:30 a.m.; lawn darts at 9:30 a.m.; and smart snacking at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be pot roast, whipped potatoes with gravy, carrots, wheat bread, and sliced pears.
The senior center has also announced that it will hold a gift basket bingo on Saturday, Sept. 18. Doors will open at noon, as will the kitchen. Bingo will start at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance or for a higher fee at the door. To sponsor a basket, giveaway drawing prize and door prize, contact the senior center.
