Senior Center Posts Schedule

The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, invites area seniors to its upcoming programs. The center, a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging, is open regularly on Mondays through Fridays. Interested individuals may call the center at 717-367-7984 for more information or to make reservations.

The schedule on Thursday, May 9, will include walking at 9 a.m., a preschool class visit at 10 a.m., Mind Matters: Healthy Heart at 10:45 a.m., and pinochle or bridge at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be a turkey and cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomato on a whole-grain sandwich roll, fresh broccoli salad, and applesauce.

On Friday, May 10, there will be walking at 9 a.m., a Bible study and table games at 10 a.m., Vaugh's Challenge at 11 a.m., and a TGIF dinner and pinochle party at 5 p.m. Lunch will be potato-crusted pollock, macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, wheat bread, and fresh melon.

The center's schedule on Monday, May 13, will include a visit by Elizabethtown Area High School students at 8:30 a.m.; walking at 9 a.m.; Strength, Stretch, and Balance at 10 a.m.; bingo at 10:30 a.m.; and pinochle at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be vegetable lasagna, a vegetable medley, tossed salad with tomato and hard-boiled egg, and mandarin oranges.

On Tuesday, May 14, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., a morning stretch at 9:30 a.m., Family Feud at 10:30 a.m., and Very Pun-ny at 1 p.m. Lunch will be barbecue pulled pork on a sandwich roll, a baked potato, wax beans, and chocolate chip cake.

The center's activities on Wednesday, May 15, will include walking at 9 a.m., chair exercise at 9:30 a.m., Wii bowling and a medication take-back at 10 a.m., Essential Oils at 10:30 a.m., and Central Penn Commodity Food Boxes at 1 p.m. Lunch will be sweet and sour meatballs, brown rice, creamy coleslaw, wheat bread, and mixed fruit.
