Senior Center Posts Schedule

The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, invites area seniors to its upcoming programs. The center, a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging, is open regularly on Mondays through Fridays. Interested individuals may call the center at 717-367-7984 for more information or to make reservations.

Activities on Thursday, Oct. 31, will include walking at 9 a.m., Halloween Fun at 10:30 a.m.; Walk With Ease at 12:30 p.m.; and pinochle at 1 p.m. Lunch will be "ghostly chili," "finger and ant salad," "hocus pocus juice," "mildly biscuit" and "pumpkin potion."

On Friday, Nov. 1, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., Bible study or table games at 10 a.m., a sanitation workshop at 11 a.m., and a TGIF dinner at 5 p.m. Lunch will be a warm turkey Reuben with turkey kraut, cheese and condiments on a roll; creamy vegetable chowder and crackers; and mixed fruit.

On Monday, Nov. 4, activities will include walking at 9 a.m., Maintaining Independence and Engaging in Leisure at 9:45 a.m., shuffleboard trivia at 10:45 a.m., and pinochle at 1 p.m. Lunch will be a mushroom cheeseburger on a hamburger roll, creamy potato soup with crackers, and fresh fruit.

The schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 5, will feature walking at 9 a.m., chair exercise at 9:30 a.m., yahtzee or Phase 10 at 10:30 a.m., and a 10-Minute Tasty Tip at 1 p.m. Lunch will be pot roast with gravy, whipped potatoes, sliced carrots, Italian bread and a cookie.

Activities on Wednesday, Nov. 6, will include walking at 9 a.m., bingo exercise at 9:30 a.m., Wii bowling or table games at 10 a.m., Seniors Helping Seniors at 10:30 a.m., and Bingo for Bucks at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be mango barbecued chicken breast, brown rice, coleslaw, wheat bread, and warm apple cranberry crisp.

The center's annual bazaar will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will include attic treasures, books, candies, an all-you-can-eat breakfast and more.
