September House Senior Center, 1251 W. King St., York, continues to provide limited services.
Anyone age 60 and older can receive takeout meals through the Congregate Meal Takeout Program. Participants can preorder free lunches to take home. Meals are available from 11 a.m. to noon on Mondays through Wednesdays at the back door for drive-through or walk-through. Some frozen meals may be included with the three-day takeouts to provide service for five days a week. Interested individuals may call 717-848-4417 to notify staff which days they want food. September House has some emergency food, so the senior center can provide food for those who did not preorder and those who need food between the scheduled delivery days.
The Home Delivered Meal Program is continuing with one delivery each week. On Mondays, each client receives a box with five frozen meals plus a box with two frozen meals that must be heated in the microwave. Pet food is still being delivered to home-bound seniors.
Online games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m. Readers may visit the center's Facebook page for additional information.
Activities and programs inside the senior center have been suspended until further notice due to the current restrictions for groups. The senior center is committed to providing services to seniors as safely as possible, and decisions regarding reopening will depend upon any new recommendations from Gov. Wolf and the CDC.
When the center reopens, expected changes may include social distancing, temperature checks, limited seating, group games only with social distancing, assigned seating, and required face covering, along with restrictions on the computer lab, game room, and exercise room.
For more information, readers may call September House at the aforementioned number.
