The Elizabethtown Area Senior Center, located in the GEARS Community Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown, invites area seniors to its upcoming programs. The center, a service of GEARS and the Lancaster County Office of Aging, is open regularly on Mondays through Fridays. The schedule on Thursday, Sept. 12, will include walking at 9 a.m., music with Tony Gro at 10:30 a.m., and pinochle at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be a seafood salad over mixed greens with hardboiled egg and tomato, vegetable soup, a whole-grain dinner roll, and cottage cheese and pineapple.
On Friday, Sept. 13, activities will include walking at 9 a.m., Bible study or table games at 10 a.m., Vaugh's Challenge at 11 a.m., and a TGIF dinner and pinochle party at 5 p.m. Lunch will be a barbecue ribette, whipped sweet potatoes, creamy coleslaw, white bread, and sliced pears.
On Monday, Sept. 16, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., laddergolf at 9:30 a.m., Family Feud at 10:30 a.m., and pinochle at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be roasted turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, carrots, wheat bread, and a cookie.
Activities on Tuesday, Sept. 17, will include walking at 9 a.m., math puzzles at 10 a.m., Pennies From Heaven at 10:30 a.m., and Reminisce at 1 p.m. Lunch will be penne and meatballs, pasta with sauce, tossed salad with tomato, Italian bread, and peach crisp.
On Wednesday, Sept. 18, the center will offer walking at 9 a.m., Wii Bowling or table games or chair Zumba at 10 a.m., advisory council at 10:30 a.m., and Central Penn Commodity Food Boxes at 1 p.m. Lunch will be a honey mustard chicken sandwich with cheese, Parmesan potatoes, mixed vegetables, and a cookie.
Additionally, the center will offer its fall gift basket bingo on Saturday, Sept. 21. Doors and the kitchen will open at noon, and bingo will start at 2 p.m. Business owners interested in sponsoring a basket are welcome to contact the senior center.
