Senior Commons at Powder Mill, 1775 Powder Mill Road, York, has announced events for May, including a yard sale, a seminar and a support group for caregivers.

Senior Commons will host its annual community yard sale on Friday, May 13, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shoppers will be able to purchase gently used items, including clothing, books, household goods and more. Refreshments will be available from vendors like Maple Donuts, Epex Soft Pretzels and Starbucks.

There will also be an opportunity for attendees to win prize baskets. Proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Businesses that would like to donate a basket are asked to call 717-741-0961 for further details.

Yard sale vendors may reserve a 10-foot-by-10-foot space for a suggested donation; spaces are limited. Vendors must provide their own tables and chairs. Reservations are required by calling 717-741-0961.

Senior Commons will hold a free seminar about veterans' benefits on Tuesday, May 17, at 6 p.m. Kevin Smyers, deputy director of Veterans Affairs (VA), County of York, will be the presenter. He will discuss the Aid and Attendance pension benefit available to qualifying wartime veterans and their spouses. This pension is different from the VA's compensation benefit. To register, call 717-741-0961.

A free caregivers' support group meeting will take place on Thursday, May 19, at 6 p.m. During last month's meeting, attendees participated in a hands-on dementia simulation.
