Senior Food Voucher Program Posted

Lancaster County Office of Aging announced dates for voucher distribution in the 2021 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Voucher Program. Each eligible participant will receive vouchers to be used at approved farmers markets to purchase Pennsylvania-grown fruits and vegetables beginning on Tuesday, June 1.

To be eligible, seniors must be age 60 by Friday, Dec. 31, live in Lancaster County, and have a household income less than $23,828 for one person or less than $32,227 for two people. Seniors living in personal care or nursing homes are not eligible.

Distribution of vouchers will take place in several locations throughout the county. Distribution will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on all dates listed. All sites will be drive-through, unless otherwise noted. Due to COVID-19 and safety requirements, senior centers will not distribute the vouchers at any other time this year.

Eligible seniors may pick up vouchers on Wednesday, May 19, at Pavilion 3, Long's Park, 1401 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster; Thursday, May 20, at Next Gen Senior Center, 184 S. Lime St., Quarryville; Monday, May 24, at SACA Senior Center, 545 Pershing Ave., Lancaster (outside walk-up); May 24 at Penn Manor Comet Field, 1800 Millersville Road, Lancaster; Tuesday, May 25, at Glatfelter Memorial Field, 1249 Columbia Ave., Columbia; Wednesday, May 26, at Lititz Senior Center, 201 Market St., Lititz; Thursday, May 27, at Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church, 996 E. High St., Elizabethtown; and Friday, May 28, at Ephrata recCenter, 130 S. Academy Drive, Ephrata.

For seniors who are not able to get to any of the above locations, mail-in applications are available. Seniors can either have a representative take their mail-in application to a drive-up event and obtain their vouchers for them or they can mail the application to the Office of Aging. There is a limit of four applications per representative. Vouchers requested by mail may take several weeks to process.
