York County residents age 60 and up are invited to take a tour, meet members and the staff, stay for lunch, and participate in activities.
On Monday, April 15, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. will be the continuation of dance lessons, learning "Cotton-Eyed Joe." After dance class, attendees will learn how to make chocolate Easter pops.
On Tuesday, April 16, from 9 to 11 a.m., Linda will show how to make bracelets. She will provide supplies, and participants can choose the colors they want, including colors that show support for the fight against cancer. A cost has been set.
The making of pretzel sandwiches for the fundraiser will take place on Wednesday, April 17, from 8 to 11 a.m. Those who bought sandwiches can pick them up, and there may be extras for sale for those who did not place an order. At 10:30 a.m., Jean from the YCAAA will explain the new food labels.
On Thursday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m. will be the monthly planning meeting. On Friday, April 19, September House will be closed for Good Friday.
Daily workouts are offered from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art, is taught by a certified teacher on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
The senior center also offers cards and games throughout the week. Pinochle is played every Monday from 1 to 4 p.m., chess is played on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 500 bid is played on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m., and the bridge club meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. The center offers shuffleboard on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and additional players are being sought. All are welcome to play or watch. Board games, cards, and jigsaw puzzles are also available. In addition, wood burning classes and workshops are held on the first and third Fridays.
Bingo is played on Mondays and Thursdays at 12:45 p.m. The first card is free. On Wednesdays starting at 6:30 p.m., bingo is played for cash as a fundraiser; doors open at 5 p.m.
