A planning meeting will be held on Thursday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to participate.
In May, September House is featuring a circus theme. Throughout the month, attendees can learn how to be a clown, including how to dress, do makeup, and act like a clown. The themed events will continue on Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m. with "Face Painting: The Mark of the Clown" and "Pick Your (Clown) Nose."
A finale event will take place on Friday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be special games, activities and surprises. Those who have special talents or skills, like magic or creating balloon animals, are encouraged to share and may contact the center for details.
Daily workouts are offered from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art, is taught by a certified teacher on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m.
The senior center also offers cards and games throughout the week. Bingo is played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:45 p.m., with the first card free, and on Wednesdays for all cash as a fundraiser, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. Pinochle is played every Monday from 1 to 4 p.m., chess is played on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 500 bid is played on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m., and the bridge club meets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays. The center offers shuffleboard on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and additional players are being sought. All are welcome to play or watch. Board games, cards, and jigsaw puzzles are also available. In addition, wood burning classes and workshops are held on the first and third Fridays.
New activities include a canasta group that meets on Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. A Fit N Fun group featuring active games or dance lessons meets on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. A fitness room is open during business hours, and opportunities to learn how to use the equipment will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 p.m.
The amateur (ham) radio group has expanded and is operating a fully functional station. Classes will allow participants to study for the technician's license on that date from 1 to 2 p.m. and the general license on from 2 to 3 p.m. All are welcome to observe and/or participate.
