September House Posts Schedule

September House, 1251 W. King St., York, has posted its upcoming schedule of activities. A free lunch is available on weekdays for any York County resident at least 60 years of age. For more information, readers may call 717-848-4417 or email September_House2@yahoo.com.

The first of September House's monthly summer picnics will be held on Monday, June 17, starting at 10 a.m. at Rocky Ridge Park in the Chestnut Oak Pavilion. There will be hot dogs, burgers, potluck sides and desserts. Tall in the Saddle will perform at 12:30 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended.

During Crafts With Linda on Tuesday, June 18, from 9 to 11 a.m., Linda will draw on her many years of experience as a beautician and instructor. She will demonstrate techniques for skin care, covering flaws, and applying make-up for a natural look. After her presentation, Now You Have It, Now You Don't will be played, with anyone who would like to play asked to bring a wrapped gift with a set value to exchange.

On Wednesday, June 19, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. a new series on the Old Testament will continue. The series is from The Great Courses. This week's presentation will be part two of a series about Adam and Eve.

A planning meeting will be held on Thursday, June 20, from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. This will be a time when anyone can suggest future activities and trips.

The Fit N Fun exercise program is offered daily from 10 to 10:30 a.m. On Wednesdays there are dancing classes, with exercise games on Fridays.

The Tang Soo Do class is seeking new members. Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial art, is taught by a certified teacher on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants work at their own pace.

A Diabetes Self-Management Program will be held on Mondays from June 24 through July 15 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. This comprehensive program is also open to caregivers and those who are pre-diabetic or who have a family history of diabetes. Registration is requested.

The senior center will continue its annual "Ask the Nurse" health programs presented by nursing students and their instructors from HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College. The programs include question-and-answer times. The dates, times and topics are as follows: Tuesday, June 25, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., "Mental Health - How to Forgive"; Monday, July 1, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., "Diabetes and Nutrition - Sample Diets and Recipes"; Tuesday, July 2, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., "Memory Enhancements - When and How"; and Tuesday, July 16, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., "Back Injuries/Pain Management." Free blood pressure testing will be available at the programs. Reservations are requested but not required, and these programs are open to people of all ages.

On weekdays, free lunch is served to any York County resident at least 60 years of age.
